Hello and welcome to my very first blog!
So, I was just listening to a podcast by Brené Brown called "Unlocking Us". I’m only on the first episode, but so far, I'm hooked. And coincidentally, it fits perfectly with today as the episode discussed difficult first times in life which we've all experienced when starting something new. It doesn't work out too well or it's harder than it looks, or we just give up. Sometimes all 3. I have been discouraged so many times when I was so excited to try something new and different only for it to go wrong in the worst possible ways. But, that's just how first times go.
Anyway, my whole point in bringing this podcast up is that this is one of my firsts. I've never created a blog or really put myself out there as I will do in this blog. However, I've been wanting to start one for a while now and figured what better way to start the new year. I know that the circumstances right now regarding COVID-19, Black Lives Matter, and many other subjects are making the world a pretty hard place to live in right now and that was all the more encouragement to finally create a blog to connect people and share my experience. I've come to understand mental health in a way I never have before and suddenly I feel more empathy towards those who are still trying to figure it out. If you are struggling or even if you just got off on the wrong foot, I understand and it's okay, it's normal.
On a completely different note, I want to explain what I will be posting in this blog. I really want to incorporate a bunch of different interests in this blog ranging from books to travel to rants about life.
Here is a list of some topics I plan to write about: Book Reviews/ Suggestions/ Discussions
Travel Destinations/ Experiences
Arts and Crafts
School Related Rants
Dreams/ Goals
Movie Reviews/ Suggestions/ Discussions
Stories/ Memories/ Experiences
Musicals/ Theatre/ Music
Thoughts That Keep Us Awake at Night
My goal is to not only create a way of keeping track of my life but share it with others in hopes of my experiences being relatable. As this blog progresses, feel free to express your own views and opinions RESPECTFULLY in the comments. Also, don't hesitate to initiate your own topics for discussions or recommend things you'd like me to address or just talk about in general.
I don't know how this will go, but like Brown advised, I'm going to accept the uncertainty and hesitation that comes with starting something new and go from there.
2020. It was a year of tragedy, panic, and pain, but it was also a year of learning, empathizing, and connecting for so many. While starting a new year is not ending this chapter of chaos, it is turning to a new page in which there is hope for the story to take a turn for the better. That is what 2021 is, a year of hope.
With that being said, good-bye 2020. Hello 2021. And here's to starting something new.
